Tobi's Tips: Back 2 School Organization
photography by Nancy Nolan
We often hear about getting kids organized for back to school … but what about Mom? It’s essential that moms also stay organized in order to guarantee a successful school year. Every mom needs a command central in her home — whether it’s a home office, a craft room or a desk in the kitchen. Find a spot in your home — that you can claim as your very own — a place where you can keep everything organized.
Here are my top tips for back to school:
Create a binder to hold all the important papers and newsletters that are sent home with your child.
Artwork overload? Not sure where to keep all that wonderful artwork the little ones bring home with them? Why not invest in a few flat paper files! They are perfect for storing these precious mementos long term. In a few decades, you’ll both be glad you did.
If you’ve got multiple children, think about color coding your filing. Each child should have their own color for binders and storage boxes.
Keep the whole family organized with a chalkboard. Create your own on a wall near the kitchen with chalkboard paint. You can customize this area to work with your space; it will look much more stylish than a store-bought chalkboard.
Keep a planner. This will allow you to keep all your important dates and numbers at hand!
