Readers first met Lisa Nelms, winner of the 2011 AY Ultimate Makeover, last July. Since then this lovely lady has discovered the secret location of the fountain of youth: the Little Rock offices of Drs. Jim English, Jeff Garner and Suzanne Yee and Vicky Crook and Virginia Nelson.

Garner helped boost Nelms’ self confidence with a smile makeover, artistically placing individually-handmade porcelain veneers and permanent, metal-free restorations. Yee sculpted Nelms body, restoring her hourglass figure by using Vaser Lipo on her abdomen, waist and hips; and English fashioned Nelms’ face and décolletage with several procedures including CO2 fractional laser skin resurfacing; blepheroplasty for her eyes; liposuction; brow, lower and mid-facelifts; and Botox and Restylane injections.

Nelms’ new look was unveiled last December, and to maximize her restored and youthful appearance Crook and Nelson, licensed aestheticians, have used their expertise in skin care to help Nelms maintain and care for her skin.

They began by putting Nelms on the SkinCeuticals skincare line. The line includes ingredients that clean and regenerate the skin with antioxidants and calming ingredients that balance the skin, help reduce scarring and speed recovery. The SkinCeuticals Physical Fusion SPF50 sunscreen helps protect Nelms’ skin from harmful UV radiation.

Nelms also received on-site treatments: microdermabrasion; micropeels; and dermaplaning.

Lisa Nelms before her makeover“Microdermabrasion gently buffs off the outer-most layer of dead skins cells,” Crook said. “This process occurs naturally, but slows as we age.” It is ideal for someone who has thicker skin and is especially effective for treating acne-scarred skin.

The micropeels and dermaplaning can be used on various skin types and are recommended especially for clients who are a bit older or clients who have thinner skin. One other great feature of these processes is the recovery time. “There’s virtually no recovery time involved,” Nelson said. “These two procedures are sometimes referred to as lunchtime treatments as they can be performed in a short time, and clients can put on their makeup and go right back to work.”

The Bellanina Facelift Massages have also been a part of Nelms’ regiment. Nelson performs the treatment on clients as a part of their pre- and post-facelift regiment and for clients who simply do not want to “go under the knife.”

“Bellanina Massage stimulates collagen production; improves lymph node drainage; and helps reduce swelling after cosmetic surgery — if used prior to surgery it can help reduce bruising,” Nelson said. She cautions that while Bellanina Massage produces great results, they are not as dramatic as surgical results. However, when used as a series — nine to 11 treatments or more — it can yield smoother skin tones and decrease under eye puffiness.

Nelms also received the NuFace Facial Toning Device. “It’s a microcurrent device that stimulates muscle tone with an instant effect,” Crook said. NuFace can also be used at home and with a variety of products.

The work of each member of the Dream Team has yielded wonderful results. Nelms looks years younger and her self confidence has been boosted.

“I feel blessed to have received the makeover. I find myself smiling all the time — for no reason at all,” Nelms said. “Having people compliment me on my skin is great. My makeup looks better. I feel like the person I know I am inside.”
