West Coast Meets West Little Rock
In the elegant, tucked-away lobby of the Best Western Premier Governor’s Suites in west Little Rock, Ark., a new luxury restaurant is gaining momentum. Table 28 opened only four months ago, but its romantic atmosphere, unique fare and creative cocktails have helped build its reputation.

Sepia photographs of Arkansas scenes hang every few feet along the ivory walls at Table 28. Austere Central High School looms in one image; in another, the Old Mill’s watermill halts mid-turn; over the bar, thoroughbreds lunge from the Oaklawn starting gate. While the last image may be homage to chef Scott Rains’ former stake in Horseshoe Vineyard, a Hot Springs, Ark., restaurant that has since closed, all the images in Table 28 reflect Rains’ enthusiasm for his home state and his endeavor to source as many ingredients as possible from Arkansas soil.
