Red Hot Revolution

Amy Garland Angel wrote in to AY looking for a fresh new look. This 42-year old mother, wife, teacher and musician got some much-needed pampering with a cut and color by Lakey Goff Sanford, owner of Memento Mori Salon, and Brooke Duszota, makeup artist and owner of Bellisima Beauty.
Angel loved her new look and after the transformation, left the salon for a hot date with her husband, who said she looked “very sexy.” After all the compliments she got throughout the day, she said, “[The makeover] was an excellent reminder to me of how taking care of the outside also helps take care of the inside.” Angel has worn the same hairstyle since the ‘90s and has always applied very minimal makeup. She left the salon after her makeover feeling redhot.
Hair
Angel’s very curly, color-treated hair was a cool, brownish red, which Sanford amped up by adding warmth and turning up the red hue a few notches. “With her skin tone, Amy just seems like she should be a natural redhea
d,” Sanford said. After adding the vibrant color, Sanford took off about 7 inches of hair and gave Angel long sweeping bangs. She added layers to enhance the natural curl and styled with hot rollers for an “old fashioned vintage style.”
Makeup
Duszota began Angel’s new look by adding a Priori foundation, which helped to tone down Angel’s pink complexion. After applying primer to Angel’s eyelids, Duszota gave her a dramatic look with a “Lava” eye shadow from her Bellisima Beauty line of products to draw attention to her new hair color. She applied a light-reflecting mineral concealer under the eye to brighten it and added a few individual lashes for added effect. Duszota lined the full lip with burgundy liner and colored it with a hydrating lip plumper in “Vixen.”
