May Makeover - A Lovely Lesson

Jeri Winfrey, After Makeover

Jeri Winfrey, like many women, leads a busy life: she’s a high school teacher by day and a college instructor by night. So if she decided she’d like a new look, she’d “buy new makeup or get a hair cut.” This time, she left the work up to professionals Kyla Betton, makeup artist, and Natalie Black, hairstylist, both with Fringe Benefits in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Winfrey loves her new look, which she admits was overdue. As a mother in transition — she’s a new grandmother, one of her children will soon get married and her third will soon leave for college — this makeover couldn’t be better timed. “Thank you so much for my makeover — what a fun time. I have received so many compliments … a huge thank you from my daughters who said, ‘Finally, Mom!’”

Black deepened Winfrey’s base color and highlighted it heavily. “I added soft layering throughout and stacked her hair in the back,” Black said. “I used Oribe products and styled it by using a rounded brush.” She used Oribe Volumista and Supershine Moisturizing Crème to add volume and shine and recommends Winfrey use the company’s Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner to maintain her look.

Makeup

Betton is a MAC makeup artist; she brightened Winfrey’s look by using a foundation with SPF15 along with NC20 concealer and mineralized finishing powder. She then used a pencil, “Flinge,” to fill in her brows. Her eyes were lined with “Teddy” accented with “Wedge,” “Naked Lunch” and “Bronze”; followed by a black mascara. “Blushed Baby” in a satin finish was applied to her checks and “Whirl” lip liner and “Just Superb” cremesheen gloss to her lips. “Accent is key,” Betton said. “If you frame the face well — with a sculpted brow, a bit of blush and mascara — the rest falls into place. Jeri’s look is a ‘playup’ of a prime or everyday look. Simply use less color, and it’s a everyday, daytime look.”
