Cassidy Kendall, a Hot Springs-based freelance journalist and author, has announced a free launch party and signing event to celebrate the release of her new book: 100 Things to Do in Hot Springs Before You Die.
On Tuesday, May 17 from 5 to 8 p.m., the new Spa City guidebook will be celebrated on the second floor of Spencer’s Corner, located at 801 Central Avenue.
In her newest release, Kendall guides readers through the quirky and intriguing history of a city she loves, providing an insider’s point of view of the ins and outs of experiencing both Hot Springs and Hot Springs National Park.
Available wherever books are sold, 100 Things to Do in Hot Springs Before You Die is more than 160 pages, packed full of valuable information — such as where fountains are located, a guide to the historic public bathhouses and the town’s history of illegal gambling, which brought in infamous gangsters such as Al Capone and Owney Madden, featured at the Gangster Museum of America. The three lakes, numerous hiking trails and celebratory bashes, such as the World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade, are also highlighted in Kendall’s release.
The new guidebook was published by the St. Louis-based Reedy Press and is written for locals and travelers alike. For more information about Kendall’s book, click here.
