12 Romantic Retreats for an Arkansas Getaway
Looking for somewhere romantic to stay this Valentine’s Day? You could go to a hotel or a nice restaurant … or, you could choose from any number of these beautiful outdoor luxury locations. Check out this list of romantic cabins, lodges, treehouses and even a tent! You could very well find the Valentine’s Day destination you’ve been dreaming of in the list below.
Country Charm Log Cabins
First on the list is Country Charm Log Cabins, a collection of six luxury cabins nestled in the forest a few miles away from Lake Degray. Each cabin is air-conditioned, comes equipped with a full kitchen and has a hot tub outside. The area is far enough out in the woods for you and your partner to be alone, but close enough to Hot Springs for a day trip to explore all the exciting attractions the Spa City has to offer.
Remember When Cabins
Also located near Lake Degray, the Remember When Cabins are hidden away on 13 acres of private land. There are four cabins here, three of which were designed exclusively for couples. Each is equipped with all the amenities necessary to have a quiet and romantic time away from the city. You can walk through the forest, have a picnic alongside the creek, and sit in hammocks on the porch beneath the clear night sky. The fourth cabin, the Lake Lodge, is meant more for family retreats, and can hold as many as eight people.
Buffalo Outdoor Center
The Buffalo Outdoor Center is a great getaway location for those who’d like some adventure on their Valentine’s vacation. Boasting large lodges and quaint cabins, you can find a wonderful blend of quiet tranquility and breathtaking action at the Buffalo Outdoor Center. In between your blissful nature walks and soaks in the hot tub, go on a bike ride, hike along the Buffalo River or even take a ride through the wilderness on a zipline.
Buffalo River Outfitters
Two hours north of Conway along the Buffalo River is Buffalo River Outfitters, a strip of cabins that spread for a mile along the river. The luxury cabins offer jacuzzis, stone fireplaces and king-sized beds. Amenities aside, couples who choose to stay here can partake in the usual array of outdoor Arkansas activities, such as biking and hiking. The area is also home to Arkansas’ only elk herd, which usually grazes just a few minutes away from the cabins.
Petit Jean State Park
A classic Arkansas attraction, Petit Jean State Park is also home to a number of fully furnished cabins. Visitors can relax in their cabins in the evening, and go out and hike any of Petit Jean’s famous trails during the day. Cost for the cabins also includes access to the Mather Lodge swimming pool.
Mount Magazine State Park
The cabins at Mount Magazine sit on top of the bluffs overlooking the Petit Jean River Valley. Sitting on the porches at sunset or sunrise allows visitors breathtaking views of the world stretching out below them. The cabins are located near the Lodge, as well as the variety of trails that take you all over Arkansas’ highest mountain.
Eureka Springs Treehouses
Here’s a cool alternative to cabins: why not spend your Valentine’s Day in a tree? In Eureka Springs, that’s a very real option. Thankfully, these treehouses are air-conditioned, have Wi-Fi, and are beautifully furnished. Each treehouse is designed around a specific city (Venice, Santa Fe, New York) and decorated to make you feel like you’re really there.
The Nest of Hot Springs
Staying in a tent on Valentine’s Day isn’t something most people would consider romantic, but the Nest of Hot Springs shatters that assumption. This cozy, high-end “tent” rests on tall wooden stilts and has a huge porch, complete with a hot tub, of course. The interior is decorated with elegant vintage furniture, a 60-inch TV and a lavish king-size bed. Suffice to say, this isn’t your typical tent.
Hot Springs Treehouses
Originally designed for couples seeking a unique getaway, the Hot Springs Treehouses deliver on its promise. Sit on your porch twenty feet up in the trees, watch the local wildlife, and spend some quality time with your partner in these gorgeous treehouses located a mere ten minutes from downtown Hot Springs.
Oak Crest Cottages and Treehouse
Eureka Springs seems to be the place to go for treehouses, huh? Oak Crest Cottages offers a variety of lodging, so if you don’t want to stay in a treehouse, you don’t have to. There are stone lodges, “hobbit caves” if you’d rather stay below ground, and even a miniature castle (only take your partner here if they really deserve it). And, if you’re feeling really romantic, there’s a wedding chapel on the grounds.
Sugar Ridge Resort
A stay at the Sugar Ridge Resort provides visitors with an awe-inspiring 180-degree view of Beaver Lake and the nearby Ozark Mountains. You and your partner can cozy up by the fireplace, enjoy a drink on the porch and soak in the huge jacuzzi tubs built for two. With such a wide variety of cabins to choose from, visitors will be sure to find one that suits their specific needs.
The Barn Cabin (Cinnamon Valley)
Rounding off our list is the Barn Cabin, part of the Cinnamon Valley collection of cabins. With a simple yet elegant exterior design, the Barn becomes even more inviting once you step inside. Within, you’ll find a master bedroom with a private balcony, your own hot tub room which looks out in the wilderness, and even a billiards room, just in case you and your partner are real pool sharks. Secluded yet homey at heart, the Barn offers a chance for you and your partner to decompress and enjoy each other’s company far away from outside troubles.
