In our Lunching in Little Rock blog series, Michael Kirkpatrick will explore and review the best restaurants in Little Rock and its surrounding area – all in time to get back to the office. This week, Michael ate lunch at KamiKaito.
Last week, even though school started, I found myself in North Little Rock searching for a few random odds and ends for the school supply list. Given the opportunity to be across the river, I searched out some new eateries that are not on my normal route. Though easier to get to than most places in Little Rock, I often forget about the Argenta area. There were a couple of places I have been to for dinner that were closed for lunch, but I happened upon KamiKaito right on Main Street.
The interior was so inviting and relaxing on a hot summer day. Quiet and clean we got a seat near the player baby grand piano. Not something you expect to see in sushi restaurant, but it added to the relaxing atmosphere and eased the tension of a errand burdened lunch hour.  The service, though attentive, is also undisturbed as well. Do not expect a speedy in-and-out dining experience.

The menu is large, so I suggest skipping straight to the hibachi lunch options. Also, don’t judge these options by the menu photography.  The photos do not do the portions justice. As I have said before, I am a sucker for fried rice, but the steak special also comes with a generous potion of tender grilled steak, fresh veggies, and tangy dipping sauces. I don’t think I ever use the right sauce with it’s matching meat or vegetable, but don’t let anyone tell you what you like is wrong.
Get out and explore this week. You might find one of your favorite plates at a new place. Argenta in North Little Rock is much more convenient than you think. If you love fresh sushi or hibachi and soft piano music, KamiKaito is the relaxing spot you have been looking for.
