Each week during the month of August, AY About You will be sharing some of the dogs up for adoption in Arkansas. This week, we have some adorable pooches from the Humane Society of Pulaski County. They are all ready to find a forever home with you and your family.
To get more information and to put in an application with the Humane Society of Pulaski County, visit warmhearts.org/adopt. All adoptions are being done by appointment, so fill out an application and the adoption team will reach out to schedule it. All pets are up to date on shots, spayed/neutered and microchipped.
Breed: St. Bernard/lab mix
Friends call him “the total package.”
Beethoven is handsome, playful, affectionate and smart — everything that hopeful romantics want.
Beethoven is about 50 pounds and is great on a leash.
Breed: Lab mix
Black dogs make great dogs, but unfortunately, they are the most overlooked.
Fortunately though, the Humane Society of Pulaski County has a very special lady up for adoption.
Ava is a 2-year-old lab mix who was left at the HSPC while she was pregnant. She was a great mother and all of her pups have gone to their new homes. Now it’s Ava’s turn! She’s a happy pupper and a great size at 43 pounds.
An extrovert, Ava is very playful and affectionate.
Energetic and active.
Loves outdoor activities.
“Rough ‘n tumble.”
Eddie has been with HSPC for a little over a year. He is another big guy who has a lot of energy. He’s an active boy who loves to play fetch. Eddie is a lot of fun, and would do best with an active family or owner that is a bit rough ‘n tumble like him. Eddie is guaranteed to provide many laughs with his goofy personality. He lived indoors with his family, was house trained and knows several commands.
Breed: Lab mix
Bubbly, center of attention
“Girls just wanna have fun!”
Winnie has been with HSPC for a year. She is a 3-year-old lab mix weighing about 60 pounds.
Winnie is a fun-loving girl with a great personality and smile. She is calm with people but needs to be an only dog, as she is very selective about her doggy friends.
Reggie is a 3-year-old handsome fellow. He is a big ol’ goober who loves to play.
Reggie has a big personality and deserves his second chance home. Please consider welcoming Reggie into yours!
He’d make a great pet for an active family looking for a special dog to share outings and adventures.
Cute little old lady
Joyce is a senior girl who wants nothing more than your undivided attention and affection!
She’s a little bit of an escape artist so she needs a tall privacy fence.
If you’ve been looking for an older girl to spoil rotten, Joyce is it! She’s perfectly lap-sized at just under 30 pounds. All she needs now is her second chance.
A little shy, but loving.
“Great things from small beginnings.”
Blue arrived at the HSPC along with 20 other dogs who had been in a less-than-ideal situation.
She’s a little shy at first, but she is a loving girl and enjoys people and other dogs. Blue is about 3 years old and weighs in at about 45 pounds.
She came to us pregnant and after seeing her puppies off to new homes, she deserves one of her own.
Age: 4 months
Ready for his adventure to begin.
Caleb arrived at the HSPC from a local emergency vet hospital where he was left with terrible burns on his back. The HSPC took him in to help him recover and to prepare him for his new life full of love.
Caleb is still a puppy at just about 4 months old. He is sweet and playful and loves people. While he will always have visible scarring on his back, he doesn’t require any further medical care, but will need to avoid long exposure to the sun and wear sunscreen when he will be outside. He’s around 25 pounds now but will continue to grow and likely be a big boy.
Despite the pain he has endured in his young life, Caleb is a wonderful boy who will make his new owners very happy!
Breed: Lab mix
Sweet ‘lil old man
Shy at first
Saki is a sweet senior who arrived at the HSPC from a pretty rough situation.
He is a little shy at first but once he warms up, it is so worth it.
At 10 years old, this guy deserves a comfortable and loving home.
Saki weighs in at about 78 pounds.
Age: 7 months
Big handsome man
Bear is a big, handsome guy. At almost 100 pounds, his puppy energy can be big!
He needs someone who can handle him and give him a lot of exercise. He’d be an amazing adventure buddy to someone who enjoys the outdoors.
Bear is very smart and knows basic commands. He really will be such an amazing dog in the right home.
The Humane Society of Pulaski County has many more dogs available that are all deserving of good homes. For more of these good boys and girls, visit their Adoptable Dogs page.
