For a few days in October, Wildwood Park for the Arts will be home to Little Orphan Annie, Daddy Warbucks, Miss Hannigan and the whole cast and crew of the musical Annie.
The show, which will play at the 625-seat Lucy Lockett Cabe Festival Theatre from Oct. 27 to 29, is the product of a partnership between Wildwood and Praeclara, a performing arts organization based in Little Rock.
This isn’t the first time Wildwood Park for the Arts and Praeclara have teamed up for a production, and it won’t be the last; the organizations worked together to produce The Music Man and Pirates of Penzance in the past. Later on in the 2017-18 season, they’ll bring Into the Woods to Little Rock. AY Magazine is the media sponsor for both Annie and Into the Woods.
Dr. Bevan Keating, Wildwood’s artistic director, is responsible for directing and conducting all four shows. Moriah Patterson is the choreographer for Annie, which features familiar favorites like “Maybe,” “Hard Knock Life,” “Tomorrow” and “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile.”
Sixth-grader Ruby Reeves stars as Annie. She is joined by Robert Holden in the role of Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks, Satia Spencer as Miss Hannigan, Bruce Rentz as President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Brianna East as Grace Farrell.
The orphans are played by Sydney Crary, Melody Small, Isabella Nguyen, Brooklyn Courtney-Moore, Colette Crochet, Annie Harris, Berkeley Courtney-Moore, Libby Golleher, Maegan Hall, Alex Holder, Blythe Keating, Ava Kate Lowery, Jubilee Leenhouts and Ellen Markham.
Audiences have three chances to see the redheaded orphan and her gang. Opening night is Friday, Oct. 27. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. at the theater in the park at 20919 Denny Rd. in Little Rock. Showtime is also at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28. The matinee on Sunday, Oct. 29 is the last performance of the show. It begins at 3 p.m.
Tickets for each production are $30 each ($15 for students). If patrons order tickets for both Annie and Into the Woods at the same time, they are eligible to receive $10 off their total order. Visit www.wildwoodpark.org or call Wildwood at 501-821-7275 for tickets and more information.
