It’s been a crazy year for all of us but the most magical time of year is almost upon us: Christmas. With the season’s crisp weather and the joy in the air, it is a great time to get out and enjoy all that Arkansas has to offer.

From fun shopping events to wonderful charity events, there is no end to the creative and entertaining activities that await you this Christmas season.

November 20 – December 30

WHAT: Enchanted Forest Trail of Lights
WHERE: Sherwood Sports Complex, Sherwood
TIMES: Various dates and times
DETAILS: The City of Sherwood Parks and Recreation Department and the Advertising and Promotions Commission proudly announce that the 2020 Enchanted Forest Trail of Lights will open early this year at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20. The annual Christmas tradition typically opens after Thanksgiving, but with several other Sherwood events recently being canceled, event organizers wanted to do something to help bring back some of the Christmas cheer.

WHAT: Garvan Woodland Gardens Winter Garden Festival 2020
WHERE: Garvan Woodland Gardens, 550 Arkridge Road, Hot Springs, AR 71913
TIMES: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily (last admission at 5 p.m.)
DETAILS: This festival is in lieu of the annual holiday lights display. The Gardens is NOT OPEN at night this year. Garvan Woodland Gardens will be presenting an all-new daytime winter garden festival in 2020. Come celebrate the beauty of the season in our outdoor winter garden. Favorite garden displays will provide photo opportunities, while the Garvan Pavilion will be transformed into a life-sized Snow Globe. A display along the newly paved Camellia Trail will feature creations for the winter landscape by students of the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design. Since the festival is during daytime hours, areas that were previously inaccessible during holiday lights will now be available to experience, such as the Evans Children’s Adventure Garden, the Evans Tree House, the Hixson Nature Preserve, and the Perry Wildflower Overlook. The winter garden festival will begin on Saturday, November 21 and run through Saturday, December 31 (closed Thanksgiving and Christmas days). The gardens will be open daily 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., with the last admission sold at 5 p.m. The Chipmunk Café will be open from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. serving up fresh gourmet sandwiches, salads, and seasonal treats. Admission prices: $15 adults, $5 ages 4-12, and free ages 3 and younger. Dogs on a short leash are allowed in the gardens for $5 each. Golf cart tours are available on a limited, first come first served basis and are $15 per person in addition to admission. There are no reservations for golf cart tours. As always, members are admitted with a current membership card and photo ID.

WHAT: Ballet Arkansas’s “Letters to Sugarplum”

DETAILS: This holiday season, children and adults can connect with the Sugar Plum Fairy herself! Children, write her today and tell her your story, your thoughts, and your dreams. She’ll answer each message personally, and each week leading up to Christmas, people who write Letters to Sugarplum can chat with her live on Facebook! WHAT: Holidays on Main Street
WHERE: Main Street in downtown Little Rock from the 3rd Street to 7th Street
TIMES: 5pm-11pm
DETAILS: Come see major sections of Main Street in downtown Little Rock from the 3rd Street to 7th Street shine in holiday lights and shimmering fun.  Stroll along and take pictures with family and friends in front of decorated store windows.  Walk underneath canopies of lights to feel the joy and wonder of the season.  Admire the lighted Christmas Tree set to music in the plaza.  Come enjoy the start of your holiday season!

WHAT: Camp Aldersgate’s 37th Annual (Drive-Thru) Fish Fry
WHERE: 2000 Aldersgate Road, Little Rock

DETAILS: Drive-Thru Fish Fry is scheduled for Sunday, November 8 from 11:30 to 3:30 pm. In traditional Fish Fry fashion, each ticket sold will include a delicious fried fish meal box with all the fixins. This year, attendees will have the option to pre-order meals on our online ticketing website and pick up meals at our off-site drive-thru, OrthoArkansas, or purchase paper tickets/place day-of orders at our onsite drive-thru location at Camp Aldersgate. WHAT: Sleigh Bell Soiree: A Cyber Celebration

DETAILS: Junior League of Little Rock’s The “Sleigh Bell Soiree: A Cyber Celebration” is November 11-14, with each day featuring both a virtual pop-up shop and virtual activity. This event was designed to support small and local businesses, cultivate new development relationships, and provide a unique holiday shopping experience and exciting themed activities for customers. Each virtual pop-up shop, hosted through private Facebook groups, will showcase specially curated items. The first night will consist of high-end products, the second night will focus on gifts for ladies, the third night will feature gifts for men, and the fourth and final day will showcase products for children. The virtual activities include Mistletoe & Mixology: A Virtual Cocktail Class, Home for the Holidays: A Virtual Wreath Making Course, Charcuterie Cheer: A Virtual Lesson in the Art of Charcuterie, and Santa’s Workshop: Virtual Craft Time for Children. In addition, JLLR will host a silent auction throughout the event. Main Street Russellville, along with Russellville Tourism & Visitor’s Center will host an outdoor Holiday Glow event on Friday, December 4th from 6-8pm. This event will feature holiday décor and lights, Christmas tree lighting, a Cocoa Sip & Stroll, as well as a living nativity at Depot Park and a jolly special guest at the Russellville Train Depot. Santa will be present on the East Depot porch for kids to wave to and drop off their letters for Santa (don’t forget to include your address so Santa’s elves can reply). Concessions will be available for purchase. The evening will conclude with a fireworks finale. Event organizers ask that attendees wear masks, maintain the recommended social distance from others, and adhere to marked boundaries and safety protocols.

DETAILS: At 6:30PM the Ouachita County Fair Board invites all kids to come ride in the special “Kid’s Light Parade”. Children of all ages, bring your trikes, bikes, wagons, hoverboards, battery operated cars.  Deck them out with battery operated lights and decorations.  The line up will be at the parking lot at Jefferson St. & Harrison Ave. across from the courthouse.  Parents are invited to walk beside your child or pull their wagon.  The children will make their way around the block and past the Christmas displays to celebrate their own night parade. WHAT: Flashlight Candy Cane Hunt
WHERE: Farmer’s Bank Parking Lot

DETAILS: At 7:00PM, join the Camden Police Department on the Farmer’s Bank Parking Lot for the Flashlight Candy Cane Hunt. Children bring your bags to hunt throughout downtown to find the dozens of hidden candy canes. This is free to the public. All children should be accompanied by an adult and bring a flashlight.

DETAILS: Saturday, December 5th will be a fun filled day at the Ouachita Recreation Center sponsored by Ouachita County Fair Board.  $5 to attend. You will find a Christmas market set up from 10:00AM till 3:00PM. Join in the fun of a Chili Cook Offand sample all the goodness from 11:30AM till 1:30PM.  $1 per ticket for tasting and $25 for a booth. There will be awards for the winners. A Baggo Tournament will start at 10:00AM.  As the evening winds down join us for the “Winter Wonderland Walk Through” as you make your way through different North Pole stations. Santa will be there so be ready to tell him what you want for Christmas. $5 to walk through. Free Hot Chocolate during the walk.

DETAILS: On Saturday, December 12th at 1:00PM The H & P Alliance and Native Dog will sponsor the “12 Strays of Christmas”.  Bring your 4 legged children out for this special time to get their Santa Paws Pet Photos, shop the great pet booths and learn how you can be a foster home to help a pet through a difficult time.  We will end the evening with a “Deck the Paws” pet parade.  So be sure to bring their Christmas finest to dress them for their parade through downtown.

DETAILS: A Motown Christmas is a powerful family-oriented show combining Motown’s greatest hits with everyone’s favorite Christmas classics. This show features those famous Motown trademarks… dazzling costumes and choreography along with unforgettable harmonies all performed in that memorable, soulful Motown style.

WHAT: Camden’s Elf on the Shelf
WHERE: Camden, Arkansas
DETAILS: Join in the fun to find “Camden’s Elf on the Shelf”.  December 1 – 18 (except for Sundays).  Camden’s Elf will be moving all over town.  Be sure to watch for the clue to be released each morning on where to find it.  Clues can be found on the City of Camden FB page.  Be the 1st person each morning to find it and post a selfie for your name to go into a drawing for a great grand prize.

DETAILS: On Thursday, Dec. 17th we have a great “Guy’s Night Out”. We know it’s hard to shop for your lady, after all which scent, flavor or collection does she like this year….let us help you!! Ladies, we invite you to stop by participating stores to make your Christmas “wish list”.  The stores will contact your guy….which might be your husband, dad, son, brother….etc. To let them know they have your list.  On this Thursday, stores will be open a little later to allow your guy to come shop.  Restaurants will also be offering “Guy Specials” to top off their shopping night.
