DETAILS: North Forest Lights is an artistic light and sound experience in the middle of the forest at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. Five distinct installations bring the soul of the forest to life with light, sound, and sensory effects.

WHAT: Enchanted Forest Trail of Lights
WHERE: 420 Dee Jay Hudson Drive (Sherwood)
TIME:  Various
DETAILS: It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and that obviously means that Christmas lights are being set up as we speak. Sherwood’s Enchanted Forest Trail of Lights will kick off the holiday season this weekend and run through Dec. 30. After a record year in 2020, the organizers of the event have added 11 new light displays to the lineup, including the final installments of the 12 Days of Christmas, along with a few surprises. The entrance to the trail is past the Henson Tennis Center driveway, a different location from the previous years to help with traffic. Pack a thermos of hot chocolate and enjoy the ride.

WHAT: Wonderland
WHERE: Garvan Woodland Gardens (Hot Springs)

DETAILS: Open Daily from 10 am-6 pm with last admission sold at 5:30 pm. Winter is a time for families gathering and celebrating the joys of the past year — and Garvan Gardens has a new daytime art installation that will be perfect for continuing these traditions. Wonderland is an art installation in the Gardens focusing on nine main areas with different themes in each space reflecting the spirit of winter and the holidays. Guests can enjoy new worlds as they wander the Garden grounds. “Due to the lingering effects of COVID-19, we want to ensure the safety and health of all of our guests, and are offering a new winter garden experience,” says Executive Director Bob Bledsoe. “The virus continues to be active, and because of our inability to receive necessary infrastructure items to guarantee the safety of guests and staff, the decision was made to do a day show only this year. We can ensure you that this show is going to be unlike anything you have ever seen!”

DETAILS: The holiday spectacle of Central Arkansas, Holiday House, is finally upon us with holiday shopping and festivities aplenty. After a brief break in 2020 due to COVID-19, Holiday House is back with over 165 merchants from around the country. In the past, around 14,000 shoppers would come out for the event. There is plenty to do all weekend long with Jingle and Mingle, Donuts with Santa, private shopping and more. Happy holidays!

Starting at 12:30 pm, herd your little elves over to J Parkey for photos with Santa and grab a cup of warm apple cider from Mrs. Claus while you roam around. DETAILS: The Living Nativity – FREE to the public. First Assembly of God will host its annual Living Nativity beginning December 4. The Christmas story comes alive as First Assembly transforms the outside of the church to reflect the hustle and bustle of Bethlehem as it would have appeared in biblical times. Nearly 300 church members, exotic animals, handmade costumes and crafts set the scene for the Nativity. Visitors come face-to-face with the Roman guards at the city gates before being swept into an authentic-looking and multidimensional experience of the first Christmas. The Living Nativity includes replicas of Herod’s palace, the inn with a ‘No Vacancy sign, multiple storefronts, the temple, tents of the three wise men and the manger. Church members portray Bethlehem townspeople as they would have appeared on the first Christmas night.
