One Arkansas fashion designer is off to a good start on Project Runway.
Fort Smith native Brittany Allen came to play in the first episode of Project Runway’s new season, winning the first challenge. Allen technically won with her Sergio Guadarrama, but Allen is the one who receives immunity for the next challenge.
In first challenge, designers were required to pair up to design outfits “inspired by the space race.” Each design was tasked with creating their own unique outfit that complemented their partner’s outfit.
Allen designed a black jumpsuit with PVC strips on the arms, along with gold buttons at the cuffs and hem.
At the start of the episode, there were 16 designers, but after a double elimination, the show is down to 14. You’ll have to tune in to find out what happens in the 18thseason of Project Runway.
As for Allen, she is a University of Arkansas graduate, where she majored in apparel studies before getting a master’s degree in fashion design from the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Since then, the 30-year-old has worked with notable names including Betsey Johnson as she has worked to launch her own fashion line.
