The Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) will be rolling out some changes to its hours in 2020.
Starting on Jan. 5, 2020, CALS will change the Sunday hours for multiple library branches. Several CALS libraries will be open on Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. These libraries include:
- Dee Brown Library, 6325 Baseline Road, Little Rock
- Sidney S. McMath Library, 2100 John Barrow Road, Little Rock
- Adolphine Fletcher Terry Library, 2015 Napa Valley Drive, Little Rock
- Amy Sanders Library, 10200 Johnson Drive, Sherwood
However, certain branches will no longer be open on Sundays. These branches include the Main Library at 100 Rock Street, and Hillary Rodham Clinton Children’s Library & Learning Center at 4800 W. 10th Street. According to a CALS statement, the scheduling change was made after considering community feedback.
“We’re hopeful these changes mean visiting the library is more convenient for our patrons,” said Lisa Donovan, CALS deputy executive director of library operations, said in a statement. “We’ll have libraries open in more areas of Little Rock as well as north of the river and increase the number of public computers and meeting rooms available on the weekend.”
The library system has already made several notable changes in 2019. These include adding Wednesday hours Millie Brooks Libraryin Wrightsville. Now, the library is open on Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. and is closed Saturday and Sunday. In addition, the research room inside the Bobby L. Roberts Library of Arkansas History & Art is now open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and on Saturday from 12-4 p.m.
