Cathead’s Diner

The Barbecue Bucket List might be done, but that doesn’t mean the fun is over! When it comes to food, Arkansas has a wealth of amazing places to eat, and AY Publisher Heather Baker and KARK host DJ Williams want to find them all.

This month, they’re changing it up with a staple of Southern cuisine.  “Second month of the bucket list, and we’re doing a little catfish,” Williams says.

Over in Little Rock’s East Village, there’s a spot that’s well-known for its comfort food, and it’s about to get some notice for its tasty catfish. Can you guess what it is?

“We’re back in the rail yard. I haven’t been to this place, but apparently Heather says it’s pretty good,” Williams says.

Some of the delicious fixings at Cathead’s

It’s Cathead’s Diner! Famous for its big biscuits, Cathead’s offers makes catfish that it worth the trip. As Baker says, “it’s amazing.”

The man in charge at Cathead’s is Chef Donnie Ferneau, a nationally recognized chef, who brings big, bold Southern flavors to his food. And the best part is that you can get all your food in under 10 minutes.

“He is the expert in food altogether,” Baker says.  “This place, you can come in and get your food…in under eight minutes,”

Ferneau serves locally raised catfish at the restaurant, a key to keeping everything fresh and delicious.

“This place, you can come in and get your food…in under eight minutes.”

After chowing down on a plate of catfish, Williams has the final verdict: Cathead’s is an absolute must for catfish lovers.  “You have to come down to the Rail Yard right now and try this catfish. It’s simply amazing,” he says.

Tune in next week when Baker and Williams make their next stop on the Catfish Bucket List tour at BJ’s Market Café in North Little Rock.
