Libation of the Week: Citron Lemon Drop Martini … as served at Vesuvio Bistro.
Vesuvio is home to the famous spaghetti chitarra, a delectable dish of egg noodle pasta tossed with shiitake mushrooms and — to customers’ delight — tossed tableside in a wheel of Parmesan cheese. It’s a creamy digestible decadence dream.
Barkeep Jacob provides friendly service with a smile. He says the secret to their lemon drop is the fresh ingredients: fresh squeezed lemon, housemade simple syrup — no premade mix here.
“Don’t dress it up,” Jacob said. Simple is better. “Use fresh lemon and sweeten it just enough. Let the ingredients shine.”
Also pictured here is a version of a rum crusta — it was tasty and pretty!! Honey (the hubster of 26 years) challenged Jacob to fix something stout, a drink he’d love to fix all the time. And voila! This was the result. Ladies & gentleman, we have a winner.
Shout out to co-owner Santo, host extraordinaire. We loved visiting with you.
Adding to the delicious food — authentic Italian dishes prepared by an Italian chef — and drinks and ambiance, a pianist plays live on Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights.
Vesuvio Bistro opens daily at 4p.m. and closes at 9 p.m., Sunday through Thursday and at 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday.
