The Taco Bucket List tour is coming to a close, but not before AY Publisher Heather Baker and KARK host DJ Williams can hit up one last restaurant. And they picked a big one for the finale.
That’s right – they headed over to Arkansas favorite Tacos 4 Life. This Conway-founded restaurant doesn’t just dish out amazing tacos – they are serving up a great cause for diners. For every meal sold in a Tacos 4 Life restaurant, the owners donate the funds necessary to purchase one meal to Feed My Starving Children. “They give back with every meal you buy here. They give back to starving children all around the world. That’s so exciting, and right now is the time to do that,” Baker said.
With such an extensive menu, it’s not hard to help out! Owner Austin Samuelson joined Baker and Williams and helped pick out some favorites for them to try. One of those favorites is the Korean BBQ Steak taco, which features Korean BBQ sauce, cabbage, wonton trips and yum-yum sauce on a tortilla. He also chosen the fried chicken taco, which as buttermilk fried chicken, lettuce, chipotle aioli and honey on a flour tortilla.
“It’s my wife’s grandma’s fried chicken recipe. A southern Arkansas favorite right there,” Samuelson said.
Being vegan, Williams needed something a little different, but that’s no issue at Tacos 4 Life. Samuelson brought out a seared tofu taco, which has house-marinated tofu, roasted poblano salsa, roasted corn, cabbage, pico de gallo, avocado and lime wedge. “You don’t even have to like tofu to absolutely love this taco,” Samuelson said.
That’s just a few of the tacos laid out in front of Baker and Williams. Tacos 4 Life went all out!
“Austin has taken care of Dustin and I. He is the hostess with the mostess for sure,” Baker said.
“So overwhelmed right now. It looks amazing. They finally have something on the menu just for me,” he said.
With little preamble, Baker and Williams dug into their spread of delicious tacos. Baker headed for her favorite – the grilled chicken taco. “My go-to taco is always their chicken taco. It has this puff shell. They’re the only ones that have it, and it’s worth coming here all on its own,” she said.
As any real taco expert knows, you can’t eat tacos without the proper liquids. That’s why Tacos 4 Life serves up some tasty beverages, including Baker’s go-to: fruit punch, as well as a summertime special.
“The food is great, and what better way to wash it down than with these awesome drinks? Their summertime drink is watermelon strawberry. It’s phenomenal,” Williams said.
With their meal at Tacos 4 Life finished, Baker and Williams have completed their taco tour. It’s now on to the next Bucket List tour, and it’s a big one.
Next month, Baker and Williams will be searching for the best seafood restaurants in Central Arkansas. Check back next Wednesday to see where they go!
