Little Rock students will be getting a merrier Christmas after a group of local do-gooders give out more than 100 backpacks filled with food, gift cards and more.
The 100 Black Men of Greater Little Rock will be giving away the “stuffed” backpacks to 141 students at College Station Elementary School on Friday, Dec. 18. According to the group, many students in the College Station area go without necessities during the Christmas break. To remedy this, the members gathered food – perishable and non-perishable – along with books and gift cards to see these students through the break.
Recently, the 100 Black Men of Greater Little Rock received $10,000 as part of the COVID-19 community outreach investment. These funds were used to purchase all of the goods and backpacks for the initiative.
The 100 Black Men of Greater Little Rock is a nonprofit and an off-shoot of the 100 Black Men of America, founded in 1963 as a way of improving community conditions in New York. It is one of 118 chapters throughout the world.
