When it comes to delicious food, there are no limits to what people will do to get a bite. For the first Bucket List trip of 2020, AY Publisher Heather Baker and KARK host DJ Williams made their first trip outside of Little Rock in their ongoing search for the best foods in central Arkansas.

The pair headed to Conway to try out a restaurant that they’ve heard can’t be missed. Before we unveil what that restaurant is, you need to know what kind of Bucket List they are tackling this month!

DJ Williams and Heather Baker

Last month, Baker and Williams chowed down on some of the best breakfast spots in central Arkansas. This month, they are switching gears and trying the best sandwiches.

“We’re starting the New Year off with another bucket list. This time, we’re checking out places to grab some good ole’ sandwiches,” Williams says.

As Baker says, this time, there is a “whole new list.”

“New Year – new list. We’re very excited about it,” Williams says. “We’ve been hearing all about this sandwich shop – how good it is, how delicious [it is].”

To start the month off, they’ve gotten a table at Cross Creek Sandwich Shop. This Conway sandwich shop, located at 1003 Oak Street inside Jenifer’s Antiques, is a home-away-from-home for sandwich lovers.

There’s plenty on Cross Creek’s menu to keep you busy. There are soup and combos, salads, wraps and more. But this is the Sandwich Bucket List!

Two of the signature sandwiches that Cross Creek highlighted during Baker and Williams’ trip are the Philly Creek Steak Panini, which has roasted onions, roasted red peppers, provolone cheese and beef; and the Apple Creek Club, which has bacon, smoked turkey, apple slices, cheddar cheese, and Dijon spread on a toasted wheat bread.

Don’t forget about the rest of their offerings, though. There are your classic chicken salad sandwich, a sun-dried tomato turkey sandwich, and a Café ham sandwich. For those with a bigger appetite, put on your bib and try the Triple Decker Club, the Big Beef Classic or the French Sandwich.

Once all the food is set before Baker and Williams, they are both stunned by the spread.

“There’s a plethora of food right here. I’m excited about the Apple Creek Club. It’s one of the signature sandwiches,” Baker says. “I think we could choose from just about anything.”

Williams isn’t focused just on the sandwiches. It’s the little extras that have caught his eye – like soups and cookies.

“The thing that I’m pumped up about is they have the soups to go with it. Sandwiches and soups. They’ve got chicken pot pie,” Williams says. “Let’s stop talking about it and let’s dig in.”

While snacking on the sandwiches, Baker tells Williams that the mark of a great sandwich is the quality of its bread. “I think it has to have great bread. I like my sandwiches hot,” she says.

“You like yours toasted?” Williams asks.

“And cheesy,” she says.

At the end of the meal, both Baker and Williams are filled and satisfied. If you want to have your own experience at Cross Creek Sandwich Shop, you’re in luck.

“They are open from 11 to 2 from Monday through Saturday, so you have to come here for lunch,” Baker says.

Don’t forget to cross Cross Creek Sandwich Shop off of your Bucket List!
