The time has come for the final stop on the Patio Bucket List, and Dizzy’s Gypsy Bistro is the place to be. Heather Baker joins owner Don Dugan on the patio of Dizzy’s for signature drinks and tasty dishes.
“We’re outside on the patio at Dizzy’s and I have the amazing Dizzy’s Punch,” Baker says holding her red drink. Dugan’s drink for the meal is the restaurant’s blueberry margarita. “These are great!”
For an appetizer, the two enjoy Dizzy’s charcuterie board. The board includes mozzarella, salami, turkey, roast beef, brie, house-made pesto and more.
“If you want to come and sit on the patio and just have an app, this is the way to go,” Baker says.
Mama Elana’s Chicken Spaghetti is next up on the table and Baker is ready to dig into this “scrumdiddlyumptious” dish.
“This is amazing. I love the heat, and it sort of has a southern flair to it,” Baker says before going in for another bite.
Dugan digs into one of the restaurant’s signature sandwiches, Aimee’s Turkey Pesto Sandwich.
“[The sandwich has] spinach, tomatoes, house-made pesto and some Petit Jean turkey,” Dugan says.
While the patio is a great place to dine, inside Dizzy’s is an equally spectacular experience according to Baker.
“One of the things I love here is that if you want to eat inside there is fantastic art,” Baker exclaims. “Where do you get all this art?”
“Darla Huie started this around 25 years ago, and when we bought it from her in 2019 we kept all the art that we could,” Dugan says.
Back on the patio, Baker decides that the white truffle mac and cheese might be her favorite dish at the restaurant.
“Is this calorie-free, Don?” Baker asks with a wink while taking another bite.
“As far as you know,” Dugan answers with a laugh before diving into one of his favorite dishes on the menu.
“This is our San Miguel Wrap. It’s black beans, chicken, cheese, onions rolled in a spinach tortilla, grilled and served with french fries and cheese dip,” Dugan says. This wrap is served for both brunch and dinner at Dizzy’s.
A lighter option on the menu is Mary Ann’s Orchard Salad. Colorful and fresh, the salad is served with a bed of spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, mandarin oranges, candied walnuts, cranberries, grapes, chicken, house-made raspberry vinaigrette and more.
“I don’t know if this is lighter or not because it looks delicious,” Baker says while stealing a grape off of Dugan’s plate.
“This is the place to go. If you’re looking for a great place to go indoors, large parties, great bar and a fabulous patio,” Baker says. “Definitely check out Dizzy’s.”
