Brain Science: Closing the Gap in Literacy and Dyslexia

AY About You is concerned about the academic challenges our students face. We featured the struggle that Emily Brown has experienced with her children’s dyslexia in a recent issue.

 

A internationally-known leader in dyslexia research will be speaking Monday night at an event for concerned families. Tim Conway, Ph. D. is a researcher and advocate for dyslexia and dyslexic students. Dr. Conway is a neuroscientist who has devoted his life’s work to dyslexia after being remediated at age 4 by an aunt who also was a researcher on the condition.

 

It’s a presentation and community panel where families can attend and ask questions. Advocates along with the moderator, Stephen Yearout, who is also well known in the dyslexia community as a successful businessman who has dyslexia and even hosts a podcast about it. 

 

The event will be held at the Ron Robinson Theater on Nov. 25. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. Come after you have seen Santa at the downtown tree lighting and come by with your family. If you or someone you know has dyslexia, this will be enlightening.
