The rumors were true. Griffin Restaurant in El Dorado has a new name for the marquee — Mule Kick. The announcement came via a promotional video posted to Griffin Restaurant’s Facebook page on Thursday.

The announcement was teased rather ominously on Wednesday, with a post on the Griffin Restaurant’s Facebook page stating simply, “3:00 p.m. Thursday,” along with a profile picture change to just a black box. The 3 o’clock hour delivered, though, for all those who were keeping up with the teasers. At exactly 3 p.m., the video dropped announcing the change.

Mule Kick is a popular eatery with a location in Magnolia, which boasts a tandem of expertise in pizza, craft brews and live music. By the looks of it, the Mule Kick formula should fit in well with the atmosphere of where the Griffin Restaurant currently resides: El Dorado’s Murphy Arts District (MAD).

“The goal in working with MAD is to pair our vision for a strong workplace culture with the mission of MAD to improve the quality of life for all of south Arkansas,” Mule Kick owner Christy Ouei says in a press release.

Griffin Restaurant has been closed since March 2020, another culinary victim of the COVID-19 pandemic.

MuleKick@MAD (as the El Dorado location is being coined), is expected to open in the fall.

AY will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as they become available.
