When driving the all-too-familiar I-30 corridor through Bryant to Benton, you can’t miss the big black letters of Congo Fireplace & Patio. A staple in the area, the specialty hearth and casual furniture retailer has been in business for 100 years.
Founded in 1920 by August Maertens, the Congo team today has more than 80 years of cumulative sales experience. August’s grandson, Bryan Maertens, is at the helm these days, and he is still committed to the founding ideas — that when you buy local, you can feel the difference.
The 20,000-plus square-foot showroom space features displays of the top brands in wood and pellet stoves, wood/gas fireplaces, gas logs, grills, smokers, fire pits and outdoor furniture.
Though the inventory is overwhelmingly impressive, Maertens says the best part is helping people create and enhance their largest investment — their home, a place that is growing in familiarity with many people.
“We feel very blessed to continue to have customers still coming to us and buying products,” Maertens says. “It has been a good year for us, and we hope to finish strong through the hearth season.”
Through plexiglass and face coverings, the sales team at Congo continues to offer reputable service and help customers pick out the outdoor pieces that will bring them a lifetime of memories.
