Fayetteville cinephiles rejoice. The Fayetteville Film Festival returns to the historic downtown square for a weekend of films, documentaries, animated films, music videos and shorts. The Fayetteville Film Festival will be held Thursday, Oct. 3 to Saturday, Oct. 5.

The lineup for this year’s event includes nearly 80 featured films, short films, animated films, documentaries and more. The festival will also include panel discussions and Q&A sessions with filmmakers, as well as workshops and more.

In addition to screening and panel discussions, the second annual Fayetteville Film Prize Pitch Contest will take place at the Fayetteville Town Center on Saturday, Oct. 5. Competitors will have the opportunity to pitch their film idea to a panel of industry professions. The winners, as chosen by a panel of judges, will receive $2,000 and have a chance to screen their film at the next year’s festival.

The event kicks off with animated and experimental films starting at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, followed by music videos and films from emerging filmmakers. A party on the square during Fayetteville’s First Thursday will take place at 6 p.m. Oct. 3. The complete lineup of films scheduled to be screened and other events planned are at fayettevillefilmfest.org.
