Five students at Little Rock Central High School earned perfect scores on the ACT college admissions exam.
The Little Rock School District announced on Monday, Nov. 9 that Alex Borengasser, Deniz Erdag, Kathleen Jackson, Samuel Lu and Joseph Park each scored a 36 on the exam. This marks the first time five students from Central have earned a perfect score on the ACT at one time.
The ACT consists of four separate tests in English, mathematics, reading and science. A student’s final score is the average of their four scores on these tests on a scale of 1-16. Only 0.5 percent of students who take the exam earn a perfect score.
“Earning a top score on the ACT is a remarkable achievement,” Janet Godwin, CEO of ACT, said in a statement. “A student’s exceptional score of 36 will provide any college or university with ample evidence of their readiness for the academic rigors that lie ahead.”
