Brown’s Country Store & Restaurant has been sitting empty since owners Phillip and Cissy Brown announced their plans to retire in April 2020. The vacant building will supposedly be getting another chance at life according to a MySaline.com blog by Shelli Poole. Poole reports that the building has been purchased and will be renovated as a Hispanic market and Panaderia, a bakery with a custom butcher shop. The investors’ goal is to provide a on-stop shop for the Hispanic community and other locals in Saline County and surrounding areas. An opening date has not yet been announced, but AY will provide updates as they become available.
Maumelle residents can look forward to a new lunch, dinner and family night food fix with the opening of Goku Ramen Bar. The restaurant, located at 1900 Club Manor Drive in Suite 102, has a sign up and has applied to serve beer and wine. Be on the lookout for more updates!
Brewery meets pastry in this new eatery. The Tipsy Donut, located at 200 N. 1st Street in Rogers, recently opened and is serving up the best of both worlds. The menu is full of adventurous flavors that rotes weekly and 16 local brews on tap. The Tipsy Donut is open 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday and 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sundays. Find more information on the eatery’s Facebook page.
Mark your calendars for this Saturday, July 2 at 11 a.m. for Hamiltons Farm Seafood Festival. Located at 4930 Sparks Road in Alexander, Hamiltons Farm is hosting a large crowd of local vendors with a special section for seafood vendors. The event advertises that guests will “experience the best seafood in Arkansas.” See you there!
The Eat My Catfish limited time offer for the summer is the Fried Green Tomato Shrimp Salad. This salad is a “fresh spring mix topped with Willie’s fried green tomatoes, eight blackened shrimp, black-eyed peas, cheddar cheese, purple onion and two hushpuppies.” Guests have the choice of ranch dressing or balsamic vinaigrette. Word on the street is that this is a killer salad, so go on and order yourself a bowl or two.
The soon-to-be new chick in town, Jess’s Chicken, is currently hiring for their location at 10907 N Rodney Parham Road in Little Rock. The restaurant has not announced an official opening date but it could be on the horizon with the hiring of staff members. AY will keep readers updated on information as it becomes available.
Bulgogi Korean BBQ just released a new dessert menu item, the Milky Snowflake Bingsu. This sweet treat is shaved ice “softer than the typical crunchy snow cones but more powdery than ice cream. Bingsu has the texture of a fresh, pure snowfall.” The Snowflake Bingsu comes in the flavors of Oreo Bingsu, Strawberry Bingsu and Berry Bingsu with more flavors on the way. Head to Conway to try some for yourself.
A new pizza joint is on its way to Cabot, but with a twist. The Pink Pepperoni, a food truck venture owned by two best friends, is expected to open at the Quarry Food Truck Lot by the end of July or the beginning of August. What’s the twist? The pizza is pink! Owners Allison Smart and Brooke Ashworth announced on the food truck’s Facebook page that the public will soon be able to try their pink pizza on July 15 and 16 at Dale’s Clothing’s grand opening.
