We have no shortage of food news throughout Arkansas, so each week, we’ll be providing you with a snapshot of the goings-on inside the culinary world, from events to specials to restaurant openings to awards. Do you have news to share? Please email our food editor, Kevin Shalin, at [email protected].
Have you checked out the new Minute Man Food Truck yet? The historic burger name recently opened a new location in Jacksonville but also has a food truck that travels all around the state. This weekend’s location schedule is:
10 a.m., Pediatric Complex Care of Arkansas — North Little Rock
11 a.m., CHI St. Vincent North — Sherwood
5 p.m., Hurricane Lake Estates — Benton
9 a.m.-2 p.m., Broken Sword Triathlon — Clarksville
Make sure you get out to either of these locations early; the food truck ships off when the burgers run out.
Yellow Rocket Concepts’ latest creation, Camp Taco, is getting closer and closer to opening. The new eatery will operate out of the location formerly occupied by Sixth Street Brewing Co. (and Rebel Kettle before that). This past week, partner and executive chef for the conglomerate, Scott McGehee, posted on social media some behind-the-scenes footage of a vegan cheese dip they are preparing for Camp Taco. Two weeks ago, he shared a picture of some sweet and spicy rainbow carrot pickles from the test kitchen. All signs point to Camp Taco being another hit from Yellow Rocket.
Last week, we had a lot of exciting birthdays to report. There’s another upcoming that we just had to share. On Aug. 26, Little Rock’s Bark Bar is turning 4-years-old. It’s celebrating with a “Bark Bar 4eva Pawty,” which promises tons of festivities for the whole weekend.
If you’re gluten-free, we’ve got you covered this week with a lasagna recipe that won’t make you miss the “real thing.”
Speaking of recipes, our food editor, Kevin Shalin, has a unique twist on a classic: pulled chicken sloppy joes.
Tune back in next week for the next taste of Arkansas food news.
