Back on the Salad Bucket List, AY About You Publisher Heather Baker was reunited with KARK host D.J. Williams for another fresh stop in the capital city. This week, the duo enjoyed a Heights classic: ZAZA Fine Salad and Wood Oven Pizza Co.

“I’ve missed you,” Williams told Baker. “Y’all have been doing okay – Hilary, Carmen, Mandy, Pat – but there’s no Heather and D.J. And today actually marks one year of doing bucket lists.”

With two locations in central Arkansas – one in Little Rock’s Heights neighborhood and one in Conway – ZAZA began with “a love of the thin crust, wood-fired pizzas, savory salads and creamy gelatos of Southern Italy,” staples that create their artisanal menu.

“It is amazing. If you want amazing pizza, amazing salads – they even have a vegan one for D.J.,” Baker says.

The chefs at ZAZA did not hold back with today’s spread for Baker and Williams. For Williams, they brought out a plant-based chicken salad with a dressing Baker couldn’t resist trying. And for Baker, the highlight of the meal was the ZAZA House salad – a bowl of field greens, spinach, blueberries, strawberries, goat cheese and candied pecans topped with a balsamic vinaigrette.

“I’m all about this house with the berries – Arkansas berries,” Baker says. “It looks delicious.”

In addition, their table was filled with ZAZA’s Sesame Ahi Tuna salad – a salad packed with seared sushi grade Ahi tuna, avocado, cucumber, edamame and Wasabi peas, topped with a Ponzu vinaigrette and sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds – and the classic Petit Jean Ranch salad that was topped with Petit Jean ham, mozzarella, cherry tomatoes and fresh ZAZA croutons.

“If you come down here, my recommendation is the vegan option, obviously,” Williams says. Baker on the other hand recommends her staple house salad with fresh berries.

“I like their house salad with the berries, but I actually like your dressing,” Baker says. “But I would actually order your salad. And this tuna salad is great, too.”

After promising to come back for next week’s salad bucket list, Williams begs Baker to tell him where the duo will be dining next week.

“It’s a secret,” she says.

Tune in next week for another fresh Arkansas salad with Heather and D.J.
