Today’s post is a little out of the ordinary. It will take you back to the golden age of medicine when physicians made house calls.
Our own Lisa Fischer, who types away hours a day editing copy for all the publications for AY Media Group found herself with a severe, and the doctor said “severe,” case of carpal tunnel syndrome. A common condition for women and especially women with thyroid disease.
Fischer chose AY Best of 2020 Orthopedic Group Bowen Hefley Orthopedics to perform a much-needed surgery. Dr. Jesse Abeler is the newest hand surgeon there and a D.O. osteopathic doctor (a story on osteopaths in this month’s AY About You pushed her to choose an osteopath).
Fischer’s surgery was two weeks ago at Best of 2020 Doctor-Owned Hospital Arkansas Surgical Hospital. She chose to forgo any anesthesia, and the surgery went well.
But today was the day to have the stitches removed. Dr. Abeler didn’t have enough staff to open his clinic, so he packed his medical bag and drove to Fischer’s home. Here is her Instagram story telling about her experience.
