In the mood for a scary movie? There’s no shortage of spooky flicks to watch during October.
All month long, the CALS Ron Robinson Center has been showing a retrospective of the great Alfred Hitchcock’s best movies and – surprise, surprise – they are pretty chilling. This Tuesday, Oct. 22, you can check out The Birds, starring Tippi Hedren. This movie will definitely give you a reason to not like birds.
Next week, you can catch the final installment of HITCHCOCKtoberfest: Psycho. Arguably Hitchcock’s most famous movie, Psycho is one of the grandfathers for the modern slasher movie.
Both films are only $5 and will show at 7 p.m. at the CALS Ron Robinson Theater.
If you’re into something a little more light-hearted, you might want to watch Hocus Pocus. This 1993 movie stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as the Sanderson Sisters, three witches who want to reclaim their youth. Nothing wrong with that. Except they have to use children to do it – not so good. Despite that, it’s still a great family watch – and a great way to scare your kid! The screening is October 25, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5.
Movie Tavern is also showing a series of classic Halloween movies, including Halloween and Beetlejuice. The 1978 (and original) Halloween will be shown Oct. 24, and Beetlejuice will be shown Oct. 27. Advance tickets to both films are $5.45.
