Lonoke, the nice community east of Little Rock/North Little Rock, has a player in the brunch game. It’s the Grumpy Rabbit. Cute name. Good menu. Great staff.
It is fronted by James Beard-nominated James Hale who made his name as a chef at his own restaurant, Acadia, and then at the Capital Bar & Grill. The executive sous chef, Tamara Murray, is a pastry chef, so a win-win, right?
The brunch menu for Saturday and Sundays from 10am-2pm includes things like the Black Eyed Pea Hummus and a charcuterie board. The entrees include French toast (we’re down with that option) as well as the Grumpy Benedict and Poppaw’s Breakfast (bring your appetite for that one).
But truthfully, aren’t we here for the cocktails? The 24 Carrot at least has orange juice (to justify your vodka consumption) and The Hopper which has gin, Chambord Liqueur and champagne. That’s reason alone to drive to Lonoke.
We wish them much success! These are tough times, and we always encourage our readers to frequent the local restaurants and tip well. Or order pick up and take it home.
