Heather Baker is joined by special guest Mandy Noell of KARK for the final stop on the Asian Food Bucket List. Residents of Faulkner County probably feel like the gals saved the best for last, because this week is all about Bulgogi Korean BBQ in Conway.
“We are so excited to be here,” Noell says. “I’ve heard such good things.”
At that, the pair excitedly usher themselves inside to see what the folks at Bulgogi have on the menu. Jenny Lee, partner and co-owner of Bulgogi, had plenty of delicious surprises in store for Baker and Noell.
To kick things off, Noell jumped into a bowl of ramen, which she said was so good she had already eaten half of it by the time the camera crew caught up to her.
Baker was all over the spicy pork noodle bowl and the California roll for her first bites of Bulgogi, to which she could only formulate one fitting response: “Oh my word.”
The girls then got even more of a taste for how Bulgogi shakes things up and a peek into why it is so popular. It’s a place that definitely leans heavily into the fusion side of things. While there are plenty of traditional options like the noodle and rice bowls, kimchi and dumplings, there is a plethora of other dishes that are very unique. Like the street tacos, filled with either steak, chicken or pork; and the sweet and tangy chicken wings, which just so happened to make our food editor’s list of his favorite wings in the area.
And since this was the last stop on the Asian Food Bucket List tour, Baker and Noell ended things with style — Bulgogi’s fried cheesecake.
Where will AY be for the next edition of the monthly bucket list? Guess you’ll have to tune in next week to find out.
