It’s time for another adventure on the AY’s Arkansas Bucket List. And with this month’s focus being prime cuts of steak, Heather Baker had to make time for a downtown Little Rock favorite: Allsopp & Chapple Restaurant + Bar. KARK‘s Hilary Hunt is back to join Baker this week. Both were very impressed with the visit.

“Talk about presentation, Hilary,” Baker says when the two sit down. “It is on point.”

Hunt started things off with an order of Allsopp & Chapple’s filet, and joked that she didn’t care if she was being judged for the size of bite she cut. “This thing can be dipped with a butter knife. It is so good.”

Baker was all over one of her favorite varieties of steak, the New York strip. But Allsopp & Chapple kick theirs up a notch, coffee curing the meat, and serving it on a bed of mashed potatoes and smothering it in a crawfish corn salsa.

“I am going to eat every bite of this entree,” Baker exclaims.

And while the duo was there for the steak, the chef had a few surprises in store for them beyond just the prime cuts of beef. Baker was enamored with a taster of the Heritage Berkshire Pork Chop, and Hunt was ready to set sail over the halibut.

Palates cleansed and red wine in hand, Baker and Hunt were then ready to take down the mack daddy — an enormous tomahawk steak, definitely meant for two.

“This is the biggest steak I have ever seen,” Baker says.

“If you’re not taking someone on a date here, you’re crazy,” Hunt says.
