Central Arkansas will always be near and dear to my heart. This area and these communities are where I grew up and made lasting memories, and I’m so blessed to be able to say that I am still making memories here in my adulthood.
Argenta Arts District — have you heard of it? I sure hope so because this community of art galleries, museums, restaurants, bars and performing arts venues is a must-visit for any day of the week.
Argenta always has events or something exciting happening. Most recently, I attended the Argenta Vibe Music Series. From the aesthetic of the Argenta Plaza to the energy of the crowd, the vibes were immaculate. We laughed, we danced, we enjoyed the local bars and restaurants (Brood & Barley is always a winner), and at the end of the night, I wanted to do it all over again.
For the next six months, the Argenta Plaza will be hosting many, and I mean many, outdoor events for the community to get outside and enjoy the local offerings. Argenta Vibe Music Series will take place on the fourth Friday of each month, and get this, it’s free. If you’ve been looking at concert ticket prices lately you know that they rival the price of a new car. We are finally (knocking on wood) finding some resemblance to life before the pandemic, and I believe I speak for a lot of people when I say live music was dearly missed. With that being said, I hear “free concert” and immediately drop what I’m doing to get there.
Argenta is also known for its community farmers’ market, Third Friday Night Art Walks, Dogtown Throwdown and other community events that local businesses and restaurants/bars host.
I’ve watched this area now known as Argenta evolve into this amazing neighborhood with the help of community members determined to make a space for everybody to enjoy. The child in me is constantly begging for new experiences and more memories, and I’m thankful that my hometown continues to provide.
