2021 is going to be here before we know it, and with a new year comes wanting to start over and get your body in check. There’s no better time to get in shape than right now, so this week I’m featuring my amazing personal trainer, Amanda Bell with the Little Rock Athletic Club!
Amanda personalizes training sessions for me and helps me think about all aspects of my health. She talks to me about food and eating well, and she encourages me to get outdoors. Amanda even gives me workouts to do at home when I don’t have time to go to the gym! Some days I just can’t get sweaty because I have to film or emcee an event, so she’ll send me things I can do once I get home. Amanda has really become a friend as well as a trainer, and she even sends me daily motivations to keep me positive throughout the day.
The Little Rock Athletic Club also has tons of activities that keep you active, from tennis to boxing classes to weightlifting—really, anything you can imagine. Plus, Frank Lawrence, CEO of the Little Rock Athletic Club, was recently featured in AY’s Faces of Arkansas issue, where he talks about the community among members of the clubs.
Amanda’s customized training also keeps me safe. Some people don’t know this, but I have plates and screws in my neck as a result of breaking my neck years ago. That means I have to be very careful when I exercise, and Amanda always takes that into consideration.
If you’re not taking care of your body, your body’s not going to take care of you, and that’s really what I’ve noticed as I get older. I can excel at my career, but if I’m not taking care of me I can’t succeed. I’ve learned I need to work as hard on myself as I do on my career, and Amanda has really helped me accomplish that.
