The UCA Bears are hitting the beach this weekend, traveling to Honolulu to take on the University of Hawaii’s Rainbow Warriors at Aloha Stadium on September 21. Coming off a devastating defeat from the Washington Huskies, the Rainbows are cautiously hopeful for their chances against the so-far undefeated UCA team.
This will be the second meeting of the two teams, who first faced off ten years ago, with Hawaii coming from behind to win 25-20. A win will prove a reversal of fortunes for the Hawaiian team, but if the Bears can pull it off, they’ll continue the season with a 4-0 streak, unheard of in Conway since 2008.
Regardless of the outcome, UCA’s team and coaching staff are excited for the opportunity. “This is an unbelievable experience for our players,” says Nathan Brown, UCA’s head coach. “Especially our freshmen, for a lot of them this will be their first road trip with us and their first plane ride.”
