On the surface, this tree looks harmless, right? It’s a Bradford flowering pear tree. They are abundant in our temperate climate zones in Arkansas.

Many don’t like them because they stink when they first flower, and they are invasive. On the other hand, they are fast growing and thrive in our climate. So what to do?

We will tell you what one city is doing if you cut yours down: replace it for the low, low price of free with another tree. The city of Fayetteville is offering this service again for a third year.

There are a couple of hoops you’ll need to jump through but if you want to rid yourself of these species, do it! Follow this link for more information: https://www.fayetteville-ar.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=2329.
