Independence Day is quickly approaching which means it’s time to stock up on all things red, white and blue and get holiday plans in order. There are many activities in Central Arkansas that the whole family can enjoy. Happy Fourth of July!
Capital Hotel has announced their plans for Independence Day: A Toast To Our Independence. The first celebration will occur on the Mezzanine at 6 p.m. Their very own Chef Andre will be giving a complimentary “birthday” toast while guest look at a “small bites” menu of all-American favorites. Wine and cocktail service will be available from 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. The hotel is also offering special overnight arrangements, which includes breakfast for $199 plus tax. To book call 501-374-7474. Riverfront Park is hosting its 35th annual Pops on the River on Wednesday, July 4 in the river market area of downtown Little Rock. This free community event starts at 3 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. This is considered to be the largest Fourth of July event in the state with more than 30,000 attendees. Activities that will take place at this event include: free children’s activities, a shopping marketplace, food trucks and lots more entertainment. Inside the First Security amphitheater will be live music, a Salute to the Troops campaign and the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. Bring your blankets and chairs because the fireworks start at 9:30 p.m.
If you don’t mind the drive, come out to Hot Springs, Arkansas, to see Lake Hamilton’s amazing fireworks show. This professional display starts at 8 p.m. and is beautifully displayed over the lake. The fireworks will be shot off in the middle of the lake from barges located on the east side of Highway 7 at the first Highway 7 bridge opposite the Clarion Hotel. This fireworks show will be in sync with music on radio station 97.5 FM US97. Come by boat or by car, this show is definitely something worth seeing.
Fleet Feet Firecracker Fast 5K
The Fleet Feet Firecracker Fast 5K race will be held on July 4 just West of Bank of America at the intersection of N. University of Kavanaugh Blvd. The first 50 people to finish will receive free firecrackers and kids will all receive a free medal. The race will be from 8:00 am. – 10 a.m. The last day to sign up is July 2. You can sign up here.
