ATTRACTION TO CAREER:

I have always enjoyed studying the human body and enjoyed knowing that my knowledge could be of benefit to someone else. During my college years, I worked for a physician and for the local ambulance service as an EMT. After rotating through all the specialties in medical school, I knew I was being called to practice obstetrics/gynecology. I was attracted to the thrill of operating and delivering babies but most of all to building a rapport with women.

BEST PART OF YOUR DAY:

After fourteen hours of labor when I see the mom hold her baby for the first time, or when I see my patient going home after a life-changing surgery that will improve her quality of life. The best part of my day is when I know I have taught, educated and changed a woman’s life for the better.

PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT:

My children are my highest accomplishment, but I am also thrilled to serve as the medical director for a nonprofit crisis pregnancy center, Life Choices, in Conway. The heart of the center is to help women choose life. In addition to education, abortion and adoption information, the center offers free ultrasounds for abortion vulnerable women, potentially saving an unborn life.

PERSONAL MOTTO:

“Put your worry in a box, tie it up with a little bow and put it in the drawer.” So often we worry about something that hasn’t even happened yet or may not happen.

TALENT YOU WISH YOU HAD:

I wish that I could dance. I love watching Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance.
