Jazz in the Park is kicking off its 2022 Fall season on Sept. 7 with a performance from The Rod P Outfit. The Little Rock event is a celebration of local talent, and a different band will be featured each Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
In addition to The Rod P Outfit, this season’s lineup also includes the Butterfly of New Orleans Katrice Newbill on Sept. 14, Nicky Parrish on Sept. 21 and The Rodney Block Collective on Sept. 28. The event will be held at the East Farmers Market Pavilion, just behind the Ottenheimer Market Hall at 400 President Clinton Ave.
Jazz in the Park is family friendly, free and open to the public. Outside drinks and coolers are prohibited, but proceeds from beer, wine, soft drink and water sales will benefit Art Porter Music Education, Inc.’s scholarship fund. Stacks of chairs will be provided, but guests can also bring their own.
The event is sponsored by the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau (LRCVB). This season marks the eighth year partnering with Art Porter Music Education, Inc. (APME), which offers scholarships to talented Arkansas music students who wish to further their education while promoting community service and volunteering. APME focuses on two fundraisers, A Work of Art – which was the first fundraiser established by the organization in 2011, and For The Love of Art – which serves as a free concert, supported by donors. Both fundraisers take place annually, with A Work of Art taking place the first week of Sept., in honor of the birth month of Art Porter Jr. and For The Love of Art taking place each Feb., as a tribute to Art Porter Sr.
