In Arkansas, July is one of the hottest months. Cool down with the sounds of some mellow jazz, courtesy of some of the state’s finest musicians.
Renown saxophonist MarQuis Hunt will be hosting the “Jazz in July All-Stars” concert series at South on Main. Every Wednesday in July, Hunt will choose a different jazz artist or artists to perform.
Each performance will be different and provides an opportunity to sample a wide variety of jazz styles and sounds.
Check out the performers this month:
July 24 – Cameron Ross
July 31 – TwiceSax Collective (Brandon Dorris and Dave Williams, II)
Ross, an Osceola native, is an accomplished saxophonist who has performed across the United States, even performing the National Anthem twice for the Memphis Grizzlies. He recently released an album of praise and worship songs entitled Power.
Twicesax is an instrumental jazz and funk collective, headed by Dave Williams II and Brandon Dorris. The collective performs originals and covers that draw on a range of musical genres.
Tickets for the shows are $10 at the door. Dinner and cocktails are available both before and during the show.
