Junior Achievement of Arkansas is postponing its annual JA Legacy Luncheon.
In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the organization’s board of directors and staff has decided to push the event back to September 22. The luncheon will be held at the Wyndham Riverfront Little Rock.
“We are following the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local health agencies, and have postponed all Junior Achievement special events including our Legacy Luncheon,” JA Arkansas President Tonya Villines said in a statement.
As Junior Achievement of Arkansas’ largest fundraising event, the JA Legacy Luncheon helps raise funding for approximately 20 percent of the students impacted each school year.
This year, JA will be honoring a series of prominent business and community leaders during the luncheon. Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge and AT&T Arkansas president Ronnie Dedman will be recognized as the 2020 “Legacy Award Honorees.” The “Nelson Summit Business Honoree” will be Bank of America, and the inaugural “Educator Honoree” will be Little Rock School District Superintendent Mike Poore.
“These honorees are known for giving back to the community and are inspirational role models for the youth of Arkansas,” said Heather Baker, 2020 Legacy Chair.
