The University of Arkansas has found a new offensive coordinator in Kendal Briles, who formerly held that position at Florida State University. He is the third hire by Sam Pittman, the new head coach at UA.
“We are very excited to have Kendall and his family join us at Arkansas, they will be a welcomed addition to the football family we are building,” says Pittman in today’s press release announcing Briles’ hiring. Pittman hopes Briles will bring innovation and breathe new life into Arkansas’ coaching staff and offensive line. “Kendall’s offenses have been successful by both running and throwing the football in some of the nation’s most competitive conferences,” says Pittman, who also touted Briles’ ability to recruit promising rookies and mold them into strong, competitive players.
The University of Arkansas will be Briles’ fifth coaching job. Over the past decade, he’s been on staff at Baylor, Florida Atlantic, Houston and Florida State, specializing in offensive coordination and quarterback coaching. Briles has a history of rebuilding offensive lines, pushing the team at Florida State to average 29.1 points per game and leading Houston to a top 10 offensive team, racking up 43.9 points per game. Briles has accepted a $1 million contract at Fayetteville.
