I love paper. I love paper products. Thank you notes, personalized notepads and personalized anything and everything. You name it. In fact, there’s an urban legend in the Fischer home that when my husband and I first married thirty years ago, the first thing I said that we needed to accommodate in our very bleak budget was a monthly paper-product allowance of $500/month. I mean, did I think I was British royalty?
Fast forward to the past ten years or so. I rely on Erin Brady’s By Invitation Only for my paper addiction. Technology has made many of us slack off our obsession for all things printed, but there will always be a need for a reliable, by-the-book store for stationary. Want it in a jiffy? Have a complicated order? Think your idea is a little out of the ordinary? They do it all.
I recently attended the wedding of dear friends Dana and Joe Kleine’s daughter, Courtney, and witnessed another stellar example of the creativity that Erin and her staff use. For the 700 guests, we first were given church programs with a layout of the wedding party. Person by person. In artist rendering. Yep. That was an idea that Erin and the mother of the bride whipped up. Just last week, I needed thank you notes with my unique font I have for my website. Done. In a few days.
Natalie Rockefeller is the mom to twin boys and says it best, “Stopping in to By Invitation Only is like stopping by a friend’s house; it’s fun, easy and you always leave happy.”
It’s true. And there is a lot of competition for your printing dollar. I would never recommend an online printer. Too many spelling and grammatical errors never caught. (Horrors). But at By Invitation Only, they are as serious as I am about those infractions, and they’ll make it right if they ever make the error.
Excuse me while I go order more stationery, but I promise I’ll never hit the $500/month mark. At least, I don’t think.
