There’s nothing like starting off the day with a hearty breakfast. With a belly full of pancakes, French toast, bacon and eggs, you’ll be primed for the day ahead, and you’ll have a good time doing it.

Over the last month, AY Magazine has been seeking out the best spots for your pancake and French toast fix in Arkansas. There have been some amazing ones, but AY Publisher Heather Baker and KARK host Mandy Noell may have outdone themselves this week.

This week, they’re taking a short trip over to Littlefield’s Café to try out their breakfast offerings.

“I’m so happy to be back doing Bucket List today. We’re at Littlefield’s Café. You said three magic words – well, four – French toast, bacon and pancakes,” Noell says.

“I heard these pancakes are huge, Mandy. So, we’ve got to get inside and eat,” Baker says.

Everything is already getting prepped inside the North Little Rock café, with a massive spread of food waiting for Baker and Noell. Owner Shelton Littlefield has all of the classics, plus some extras, lined up for the two hungry Bucket Listers.

“Since it’s pancake month, we’re going to be sending out our famous pancakes, plus we’re going to pair that up with a sourdough French toast, along with a western omelet, a Philly cheesesteak omelet and our big boy breakfast,” he says.

The big boy breakfast consists of three eggs of your choice, a meat of your choice (bacon, ham or sausage) and hash browns, along with your choice of a short stack of pancakes, biscuits and gravy or a waffle.

Once everything is laid out, Baker and Noell are immediately struck by the sheer size of the pancakes. They are massive!

“Mandy, we are set up. Now, I know why these pancakes made our feature edit because they are huge,” Baker says.

Meanwhile, Noell has her eye on something else: the French toast. “Fluffy – this French toast. It’s just drizzled with syrup. It’s taking everything for us to not start digging in,” Noell says.

With those words, Baker and Noell go to work on the food. Baker concentrates on the pancakes while Noell tackles the French toast. “It is light, fluffy and utterly delicious,” Baker says about the pancakes.

“I’ve been digging into this French toast,” Noell says. I’ll tell you what – it is just the right amount of crispy, got some butter on it, and the powdered sugar.”

But there’s still more to eat at this table! There are still waffles, omelets and other breakfast staples. The waffles are what attracts Noell next.

“You know what else, this waffle? I cannot stop eating it,” Noell says.

“I think she is all about this waffle,” Baker says.

“It’s heaven. It’s so good,” Noell says.

Baker and Noell also enjoy a good savory breakfast, as well. Baker tucks into the big boy breakfast, chowing down on the eggs, hash browns and sausage. But she doesn’t get to keep all the food to herself. She has to share the biscuits and gravy with Noell!

“I have the classic breakfast, the fried eggs, sausage and hash browns,” Baker says.

At the same time, Noell is enjoying one of Littlefield’s omelets. “I’m digging into the southwest omelet. I’ve got bacon, I’ve got cheese. I have everything I want,” she says.

After a hearty meal, both Baker and Noell are breakfasted out. But there’s still more to explore on the Pancakes and French Toast Bucket List. Tune in next week to see where they go on the final round of this Bucket List.
