In Lunching in Northwest, a companion to our Lunching in Little Rock blog series, Kody Ford will explore and review Northwest Arkansas’ best restaurants – all in time to get back to the office. This week, Kody ate lunch at BürgerHaüs in Fayetteville. Click here to read more from #LunchinginLR and #LunchinginNWA. Photography by Kody Ford.

If you’re coming to Fayetteville to watch the Hogs this fall, it’d be wise to have some food in your belly to keep all that… um, Razorback spirit from getting the best of you. So what’s the best comfort food in town? While that depends on what you’re into, one new contender that’s making a strong run for the money is BürgerHaüs, located at the corner of Garland Avenue and Wedington Drive.

Located in the old Mr. Burger (rest in peace), BürgerHaüs serves up burgers, Philly cheesesteaks and all sorts of food that sticks to your bones. This is a can’t-miss place for anyone who loves the glorious union of beef and cheese. I’ve eaten here a few times now and have never regretted it. The Whizzy Burger has two fresh beef patties, grilled onions, green peppers, mushrooms and Cheez Whiz, so it’s basically a Philly cheeseburger. I loved it. And the Whizzy Philly Fries… you’ll want to take the afternoon off if you knock these back by yourself. I’d suggest sharing with a few friends. It’s the same setup but with steak cut fries. I could sing their praises for days.

They have a regular Philly-style cheesesteak sandwich, a grilled chicken salad and more, including a kid’s menu. And if for some reason you want dessert, they serve up milkshakes, Snicker’s cheesecake, and Letha’s Pies, which are fried pies with flavors like apple, peach, chocolate peanut butter and more.

So whether you’re visiting Fayetteville for the weekend, a local looking to go out with some friends or just want a cheat-day meal, break out the stretchy pants and head down to BürgerHaüs. It’ll feel so good to be so bad.
