This week’s food entry is a dessert … the French vanilla cheesecake at Copper Grill.
[dropcap]Copper[/dropcap] Grill (CG) is the youngest of proprietor Mary Beth Ringgold’s trio of restaurants — the others are Capers Restaurant and Cajun’s Wharf. CG is located on the street level of 300 Third and features a cozy atmosphere that’s a great place to enjoy happy hour (Mon. through Fri., 4 to 7 p.m.).
The menu includes a number of tempting items, including the famous mac-n-cheese balls with blackberry dipping sauce. They’re a great splurge item.
CG’s dessert menu includes several “made-from-scratch desserts,” including chocolate crème brulee — a dish for which the September Create has a recipe — chocolate peanut butter pie and a chocolate bread pudding that they’re trying to force you to share. The nerve!!
The French vanilla cheesecake features a ginger snap crust (I love ginger snaps), fresh berries and bourbon caramel and white chocolate sauces. I shared this slice — cannot totally cancel out those calories I burned this morning — and my dining partner and I were delighted with the cake and how sweet and fresh the berries were.
