The calendar says “November” but mine says Christmas. I’m one of those people who wish Santa were a 365-day friend rather than a one-day-in-December-friend only. I’m that person with her Christmas tree up complete with a gift from a friend under the evergreen. The crazy thing is the friend is the female equivalent of Scrooge yet she still gave ME a gift. In October. Why? She says it is the pressure of being friends with someone so obsessed with Christmas.
One highlight of the holiday season is Holiday House. This DON’T MISS event kicks off the shopping season with more than 165 merchants plus Santa at the Statehouse Convention Center on November 6-9. Holiday House is one of the Junior League of Little Rock’s special projects that helps fund more than $5 million in community projects. The preview party starts on November 6. General shopping, including breakfast with Santa, is on the 9th. Find out more at www.aymag.com.
And speaking of the holidays, Conway has several celebrations to get you in the Christmas spirit. Dazzle Days is November 21-23 at the Conway Expo Center. This is a fundraiser and shopping extravaganza for Conway Regional Women’s Council that raises money for medical scholarships among other things. ILLUMINATE, the Conway Christmas tree-lighting, is on November 30 from 2-7 p.m. and is a fun event for your family that includes photos with Santa, Ferris wheel rides and hopefully food on a stick. (I do love a food truck.) I’m honored to be this year’s emcee.
This month’s FACES of business/achievers is a feature close to my heart. I enjoy reading about what people are doing in their respective fields to make a difference in our state.
All this Santa chat has almost made me forget about the holiday that ushers in the weight gain … Thanksgiving. It is also the holiday that reminds me how grateful I am for my family, my faithful friends and my colleagues at AY Media Group, “AYMG,” our new and fancy company name. Oh and let me remind you that the Bakers will be celebrating Thanksgiving with our tree up.
Is your holiday calendar getting filled up like mine? If so, tell me all about what you’re doing. I love connecting with our readers.
