When you want a great pizza, you’ve got to get one that has the best and freshest ingredients. In Central Arkansas, there’s no debate about where to go: Old Mill Pizza in North Little Rock. That’s why AY Publisher Heather Baker and KARK host Carmen Rose are heading to this pizza hotspot for a few pies as part of AY About You magazine’s Pizza Bucket List.

“I’ve been here before. I love all the different types of pizza that they have,” Rose says.

“They have the Hawaiian with Canadian bacon and pineapple. Mmmm!,” Baker says.

“We have to try them all,” Rose says.

With its specialty pies, Old Mill Pizza provides a range of pizzas that you can’t find anywhere else. Take the Acropolis – it’s an olive oil-based pizza with artichoke hearts, green and black olives, spinach, sun dried tomatoes, green bell pepper, feta cheese and mozzarella cheese. And that’s just one of the unique options! There’s a whole menu to explore.

That’s exactly what owner Jeff Lasiter is aiming to help Baker and Rose with on their visit. Lasiter has several pizzas in the oven, along with some other goodies, for the duo.

“Today, for Heather and Carmen, we’ve got three or four of our house pies coming out,” Lasiter says. In addition, he has a meatball appetizer and a turkey avocado sandwich to send out to them.

Once everything is piping hot and on the table, Baker and Rose start to dig in. Rose zeroes in on the Harvey Special, which features smoked turkey, jalapenos and cheddar cheese. “I love the Harvey Special. You can see the little jalapenos here. Just enough spice,” Rose says.

Meanwhile, Baker praises the BBQ Chicken pizza, eagerly taking bites of the cheesy pizza. “This is amazing. This is barbecue sauce and cheese. It’s so good,” Baker says.

Baker and Rose both are impressed with Old Mill Pizza’s foundational elements: its crust and ingredients. After all, that’s what makes a pizza a pizza!

“This crust is so good. Do you like your crust thicker or thinner?” Baker asks.

“I typically like the New York style, but this is a happy medium,” Rose says.

But for Rose, the real winner is the range of ingredients available to put on the pizzas. “There’s tons of veggies, tons of meat and cheese. So if you’re a meat lover, if you’re a vegetarian…they all live happily,” she says.

Baker’s also a fan of the ingredients, noting “I like tons of cheese and ingredients on the pizza.”

After eating their fill, Baker and Rose declare the trip to the North Little Rock restaurant a success. “Old Mill Pizza has delivered,” Baker declares.

Whether you are dropping by for takeout or to eat in, Old Mill Pizza won’t disappoint, according to these two Bucket List experts.

“Come out here for the casual atmosphere, watch some Hogs,” Rose says.

“This is the downtown place to come hangout, grab a pizza to go or bring the family in,” Baker says.

Check back next week to see where Baker and Rose head next on the Pizza Bucket List tour.
