08-13-15.GingerJuiceGinger is one of my favorite flavors — ginger snaps, ginger beer … I sometimes use it in my vegetable smoothies. So it goes without saying: Café 1217’s apple-lemon-ginger juice is one of faves. This locally owned restaurant is one of Hot Spring’s most popular eateries, and with good reason.

The food is consistently well-prepared, the staff is friendly and proficient and the atmosphere is laid back and ideal for gathering to gab, which is just what the always-delightful Jane Phillips, also an AY staffer, and the witty Dr. David “Doc” Jolly did.

I was wowed by the new interior. They’ve expanded the main dining room and its walls are covered with delightful floor-to-ceiling chalk drawings and quotes as well as paintings of vegetables, such as the one shown here.

Every entrée I’ve ordered there has been delicious — and accompanied by the famous apple-lemon-ginger juice — and the cookies and other desserts are tasty treats.

You should stop in the next time you’re in the Spa City; they’re at 1217 Malvern Avenue. You’ll enjoy every sip.
